Online City Co-life Center: A New Era in Commercial Architecture

Feng Cheng's Innovative Design Wins Silver A' Design Award

Exploring the transformation of commercial architecture, Feng Cheng's "Online City Co-life Center" breaks away from traditional design norms to create a sustainable, functional, and friendly space. This innovative project, awarded the Silver A' Design Award, redefines the essence of community living.

Commercial architecture has seen a shift in recent years, with many designs excessively pursuing elegance and sophistication. These designs often resemble museums or cultural buildings, lacking the warmth and friendliness needed for community residents. Feng Cheng's "Online City Co-life Center" breaks away from this trend, focusing on creating a space that is sustainable, functional, and pleasant.

The project's unique properties lie in its departure from the traditional demonstration area's pursuit of elegance. Instead of focusing on expensive facade materials and complex spaces, the design returns to the essence of life, creating a vibrant and warm place. This upgrade from the traditional demonstration area reflects the architectural image of caring for community life, strengthening the sense of belonging among community residents.

Constructed using aluminum plate, glass, and imitated wood grille, the Co-life Center spans a land area of 1572.7 square meters and an architectural area of 4234.07 square meters. The design integrates the interior and landscape parts of the experience center, focusing on the concept of "returning to life."

The Co-life Center is a new exploration of product mode under the background of consumption and experience upgrading. The design compresses the sales module, integrating light catering, handicraft, flower shop, children's activities, and other entertainment functions into the golden space on the first floor. The sales function is placed on the second floor, defined as the "good life institute," creating an experience atmosphere of returning to life.

Despite the challenge of mixing many commercial types of operation in one space, and the story height difference between the distribution room and functional room affecting building facade modeling, the project successfully overcame these obstacles. The project started in Shanghai in December 2018 and was completed in May 2019.

The Online City Co-life Center was recognized with the Silver A' Design Award in 2020, a prestigious accolade awarded to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. This award is a testament to Feng Cheng's innovative approach to commercial architecture, marking a new era in the field.
